# The Scoring Machine vs GOLFN

The clearest difference is price: GOLFN at Free against The Scoring Machine's $4.99. GOLFN also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 76%) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). The Scoring Machine's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 12) and ratings volume (130 vs 13). On rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

GOLFN is free to download; The Scoring Machine costs $4.99 up front. GOLFN sells 12 one-off in-app purchases. The Scoring Machine asks for nothing beyond the download.

The Scoring Machine holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The Scoring Machine has 130 ratings behind it against 13, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 76% of The Scoring Machine's written reviews are positive against 100% of GOLFN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

The Scoring Machine ships an update every 2 months, GOLFN every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
