# screen vs Lux Light Meter Pro

The clearest difference is rating: Lux Light Meter Pro at 3.9 against screen's 2.4. Lux Light Meter Pro also leads on update cadence (every 3 months vs every 18 months) and ratings volume (5.1K vs 195). screen's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 4) and ads (none vs shown). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Lux Light Meter Pro sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. screen asks for nothing beyond the download.

Lux Light Meter Pro holds the better App Store score, 3.9 against 2.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Lux Light Meter Pro has 5.1K ratings behind it against 195, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 48% of screen's written reviews are positive against 21% of Lux Light Meter Pro's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

screen ships an update every 18 months, Lux Light Meter Pro every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
