# Spellspire vs My Type!

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: My Type! at none against Spellspire's 12. My Type! also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.6) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 weeks). Spellspire's advantage is ratings volume (3.4K vs 65) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 12.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Spellspire sells 12 one-off in-app purchases. My Type! asks for nothing beyond the download.

My Type! holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Spellspire has 3.4K ratings behind it against 65, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 85% and 86% positive.

Spellspire ships an update every 6 weeks, My Type! fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 13, 2026.
