# KMPlayer vs MX Player

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: KMPlayer at none against MX Player's 4. KMPlayer also leads on review sentiment (66% vs 37%) and update cadence (every 9 days vs monthly). MX Player's advantage is ratings volume (362K vs 3.2K) and rating (4.6 vs 4.3). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MX Player sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per year. KMPlayer asks for nothing beyond the download.

MX Player holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MX Player has 362K ratings behind it against 3.2K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 66% of KMPlayer's written reviews are positive against 37% of MX Player's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

KMPlayer ships an update every 9 days, MX Player monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
