# KMPlayer vs Fileplay

The clearest difference is ads: KMPlayer at none against Fileplay's shown. KMPlayer also leads on update cadence (every 9 days vs every 6 weeks) and review sentiment (66% vs 48%). Fileplay's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 4.3). On price, ratings volume, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Fileplay holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 3.2K and 4.2K respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 66% of KMPlayer's written reviews are positive against 48% of Fileplay's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

KMPlayer ships an update every 9 days, Fileplay every 6 weeks. Both last shipped on October 3, 2026.
