# WhiteBoard vs Simple Blackboard

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: WhiteBoard at none against Simple Blackboard's 1. Simple Blackboard's advantage is ratings volume (139 vs 2). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Simple Blackboard sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. WhiteBoard asks for nothing beyond the download.

WhiteBoard holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Simple Blackboard has 139 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 43% of WhiteBoard's written reviews are positive against 50% of Simple Blackboard's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

WhiteBoard ships an update every 8 months, Simple Blackboard every 9 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
