# Phont vs Fonts

The clearest difference is rating: Fonts at 4.3 against Phont's 3.2. Fonts also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 4) and update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 9 months). Phont's advantage is ads (none vs shown). On price, review sentiment and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Phont sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Fonts asks for nothing beyond the download.

Fonts holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Fonts has 377 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Phont's written reviews are positive against 49% of Fonts's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Phont ships an update every 9 months, Fonts every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
