# SimpleClock. vs When

The clearest difference is rating: When at 4.7 against SimpleClock.'s 4.0. When also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 7 months) and ratings volume (28 vs 3). SimpleClock.'s advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

When holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: When has 28 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of SimpleClock.'s written reviews are positive against 90% of When's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

SimpleClock. ships an update every 7 months, When weekly. The most recent releases landed on September 22, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
