# Stepz vs Walking Distance Tracker

The clearest difference is monetization model: Walking Distance Tracker at free with in-app purchases against Stepz's subscription. Walking Distance Tracker also leads on ads (none vs shown). Stepz's advantage is review sentiment (77% vs 42%) and update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Stepz sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and Walking Distance Tracker sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for Stepz against 4.5 for Walking Distance Tracker. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Stepz has 33K ratings behind it against 3.1K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 77% of Stepz's written reviews are positive against 42% of Walking Distance Tracker's.

Stepz ships an update weekly, Walking Distance Tracker every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
