# Ascend Math vs Monster Math 2

Ascend Math and Monster Math 2 both sit at 4.4 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Ascend Math's written reviews are positive against 63% of Monster Math 2's. Ascend Math also leads on update cadence (weekly vs fortnightly) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 13.0). Monster Math 2's advantage is ratings volume (6.5K vs 24). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Ascend Math sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Monster Math 2 sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $59.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
