# JStream vs Shira24

The clearest difference is update cadence: Shira24 at every 4 months against JStream's every 19 months. Shira24 also leads on rating (4.4 vs 4.1). JStream's advantage is ratings volume (204 vs 42) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 13.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Shira24 holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 204 and 42 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 85% of JStream's written reviews are positive against 81% of Shira24's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

JStream ships an update every 19 months, Shira24 every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on September 26, 2026 and September 23, 2026 respectively.
