# Rules! vs Cat

The clearest difference is price: Cat at Free against Rules!'s $2.99. Rules!'s advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 2) and ratings volume (67 vs 4). On rating, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Cat is free to download; Rules! costs $2.99 up front. Cat sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Rules! asks for nothing beyond the download.

Rules! holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Rules! has 67 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 71% of Rules!'s written reviews are positive against 75% of Cat's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Rules! ships an update monthly, Cat every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
