# Fx Stencil vs Silhouette

The clearest difference is rating: Fx Stencil at 4.5 against Silhouette's 3.3. Fx Stencil also leads on ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (1K vs 21). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Fx Stencil sells 4 one-off in-app purchases and Silhouette sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Fx Stencil holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Fx Stencil has 1K ratings behind it against 21, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 43% of Fx Stencil's written reviews are positive against 48% of Silhouette's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Fx Stencil ships an update every 2 months, Silhouette every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
