# GPS Averaging vs Wherigo®

The clearest difference is price: Wherigo® at Free against GPS Averaging's $0.99. Wherigo® also leads on rating (4.5 vs 3.1) and update cadence (every 4 months vs every 23 months). GPS Averaging's advantage is iOS requirement (8.0 vs 11.0). On review sentiment, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Wherigo® is free to download; GPS Averaging costs $0.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Wherigo® holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Wherigo® has 989 ratings behind it against 15, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of GPS Averaging's written reviews are positive against 42% of Wherigo®'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

GPS Averaging ships an update every 23 months, Wherigo® every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
