# ScipherKey vs eCertificate

The clearest difference is update cadence: ScipherKey at every 10 months against eCertificate's every 21 months. eCertificate's advantage is iOS requirement (12.2 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

ScipherKey ships an update every 10 months, eCertificate every 21 months. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
