# smartQ vs Project Runner

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: smartQ at none against Project Runner's 1. smartQ also leads on ratings volume (65 vs 1) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 17.0). Project Runner's advantage is update cadence (every 3 days vs every 2 months) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Project Runner sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $4.99 per year. smartQ asks for nothing beyond the download.

Project Runner holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: smartQ has 65 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

smartQ ships an update every 2 months, Project Runner every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
