# Notex vs Notepad

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Notex at 72% against Notepad's 33%. Notex also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.6). Notepad's advantage is rating (4.3 vs 4.1). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Notex sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Notepad sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $1.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Notepad holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 66 and 64 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 72% of Notex's written reviews are positive against 33% of Notepad's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Notex ships an update every 3 weeks, Notepad every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
