# Upshot! vs Rise

The clearest difference is rating: Rise at 4.8 against Upshot!'s 4.0. Rise also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 8 months) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Upshot!'s advantage is review sentiment (90% vs 76%) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Upshot! sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Rise sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Rise holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Rise has 155 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 90% of Upshot!'s written reviews are positive against 76% of Rise's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Upshot! ships an update every 8 months, Rise every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
