# OnSwitch for Philips Hue vs VMaxxx

The clearest difference is ratings volume: OnSwitch for Philips Hue at 9.6K against VMaxxx's 2. OnSwitch for Philips Hue also leads on chart position (#155 vs unranked). VMaxxx's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and update cadence (every 5 days vs every 2 weeks). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. OnSwitch for Philips Hue sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per month and VMaxxx sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

VMaxxx holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: OnSwitch for Philips Hue has 9.6K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

OnSwitch for Philips Hue ships an update every 2 weeks, VMaxxx every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
