# PatternMaker vs Word Dragger

The clearest difference is rating: Word Dragger at 5.0 against PatternMaker's 3.4. PatternMaker's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Word Dragger holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PatternMaker has 7 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

PatternMaker ships an update every 2 months, Word Dragger every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
