# Pattern Type vs Stylish Text

The clearest difference is ads: Pattern Type at none against Stylish Text's shown. Pattern Type also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 15.6). Stylish Text's advantage is ratings volume (6.9K vs 1). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Pattern Type sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Stylish Text sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Pattern Type holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Stylish Text has 6.9K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Pattern Type ships an update every 3 months, Stylish Text every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on September 24, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
