# Pattern Type vs Good Fonts

The clearest difference is rating: Pattern Type at 5.0 against Good Fonts's 4.2. Pattern Type also leads on ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 15.6). Good Fonts's advantage is ratings volume (9.6K vs 1) and update cadence (monthly vs every 3 months). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Pattern Type sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Good Fonts sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Pattern Type holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Good Fonts has 9.6K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Pattern Type ships an update every 3 months, Good Fonts monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
