# Pattern Type vs Text Fonts, Emojis & Symbols

The clearest difference is rating: Pattern Type at 5.0 against Text Fonts, Emojis & Symbols's 4.3. Pattern Type also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 17.0). Text Fonts, Emojis & Symbols's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (27K vs 1).
