# Pattern Type vs Install Fonts

The clearest difference is update cadence: Install Fonts at weekly against Pattern Type's every 3 months. Install Fonts also leads on ratings volume (110 vs 1). Pattern Type's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 16.4). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Pattern Type sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Install Fonts sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
