# WestJet vs BC Ferries

The clearest difference is ads: BC Ferries at none against WestJet's shown. BC Ferries also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). WestJet's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (446 vs 18). On price, rating, review sentiment and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 2.2 for WestJet against 2.2 for BC Ferries. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: WestJet has 446 ratings behind it against 18, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 11% of WestJet's written reviews are positive against 7% of BC Ferries's.

WestJet ships an update every 2 weeks, BC Ferries every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
