# MapleRead CE vs AuthorWatch

The clearest difference is price: AuthorWatch at Free against MapleRead CE's $6.99. AuthorWatch also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.5) and update cadence (weekly vs every 6 weeks). MapleRead CE's advantage is ratings volume (13 vs 2) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.5). On ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

AuthorWatch is free to download; MapleRead CE costs $6.99 up front. MapleRead CE sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and AuthorWatch sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

AuthorWatch holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MapleRead CE has 13 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.
