# 2048 vs 2048 CAT

The clearest difference is rating: 2048 CAT at 4.8 against 2048's 4.5. 2048 CAT also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). 2048's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 6 months) and ratings volume (381 vs 50). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. 2048 sells 11 one-off in-app purchases and 2048 CAT sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

2048 CAT holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: 2048 has 381 ratings behind it against 50, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 86% of 2048's written reviews are positive against 77% of 2048 CAT's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

2048 ships an update every 2 months, 2048 CAT every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
