# Brushes XP vs Bookmarks

The clearest difference is price: Bookmarks at Free against Brushes XP's $4.99. Bookmarks also leads on rating (4.5 vs 3.8) and update cadence (every 4 weeks vs every 13 months). Brushes XP's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 5) and iOS requirement (12.1 vs 18.0). On review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Bookmarks is free to download; Brushes XP costs $4.99 up front. Bookmarks sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 2 months. Brushes XP asks for nothing beyond the download.

Bookmarks holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Bookmarks has 64 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of Brushes XP's written reviews are positive against 59% of Bookmarks's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Brushes XP ships an update every 13 months, Bookmarks every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
