# Ball Chatham vs Clever

The clearest difference is rating: Ball Chatham at 3.7 against Clever's 2.7. Ball Chatham also leads on iOS requirement (9.0 vs 16.6). Clever's advantage is update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 29 months) and ratings volume (10K vs 16). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Ball Chatham holds the better App Store score, 3.7 against 2.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Clever has 10K ratings behind it against 16, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 25% of Ball Chatham's written reviews are positive against 33% of Clever's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Ball Chatham ships an update every 29 months, Clever every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 7, 2026 respectively.
