# Forest vs Scroll Counts

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Scroll Counts at 100% against Forest's 58%. Forest's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and ratings volume (50K vs 13). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Forest sells 19 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and Scroll Counts sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Forest holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Forest has 50K ratings behind it against 13, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 58% of Forest's written reviews are positive against 100% of Scroll Counts's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Forest ships an update every 9 days, Scroll Counts weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
