# LocusCast vs Pixel Music

The clearest difference is price: LocusCast at Free against Pixel Music's $5.99. LocusCast also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 13.0). Pixel Music's advantage is ratings volume (7 vs 1) and update cadence (every 8 months vs every 17 months). On ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

LocusCast is free to download; Pixel Music costs $5.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

LocusCast holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pixel Music has 7 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

LocusCast ships an update every 17 months, Pixel Music every 8 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
