# Postcodes & Postbox Search vs Blue Light Maps

The clearest difference is rating: Blue Light Maps at 5.0 against Postcodes & Postbox Search's 3.7. Blue Light Maps also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 4 months). Postcodes & Postbox Search's advantage is ratings volume (92 vs 1) and review sentiment (45% vs 35%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Postcodes & Postbox Search sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and Blue Light Maps sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Blue Light Maps holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Postcodes & Postbox Search has 92 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 45% of Postcodes & Postbox Search's written reviews are positive against 35% of Blue Light Maps's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Postcodes & Postbox Search ships an update every 4 months, Blue Light Maps fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
