# Othello World vs Backgammon Plus

The clearest difference is update cadence: Backgammon Plus at every 3 weeks against Othello World's every 28 months. Backgammon Plus also leads on rating (4.6 vs 4.3) and ratings volume (4.7K vs 19). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Othello World sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $1.99 per month and Backgammon Plus sells 25 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Backgammon Plus holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Backgammon Plus has 4.7K ratings behind it against 19, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 17% and 18% positive.

Othello World ships an update every 28 months, Backgammon Plus every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
