# Signal vs BBB app

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: BBB app at none against Signal's 1. BBB app also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 68%). Signal's advantage is update cadence (every 6 days vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (1.1M vs 3). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Signal sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $1.99 per month. BBB app asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Signal against 4.7 for BBB app. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Signal has 1.1M ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 68% of Signal's written reviews are positive against 100% of BBB app's.

Signal ships an update every 6 days, BBB app every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
