# Flir One vs Night Vision

The clearest difference is monetization model: Flir One at free with in-app purchases against Night Vision's subscription. Flir One also leads on rating (4.6 vs 4.1) and ratings volume (7.6K vs 517). Night Vision's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 weeks) and review sentiment (35% vs 22%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Flir One sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $29.99 per year and Night Vision sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Flir One holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Flir One has 7.6K ratings behind it against 517, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 22% of Flir One's written reviews are positive against 35% of Night Vision's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Flir One ships an update every 5 weeks, Night Vision fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
