# HD RiderPoints vs Pinecone Research

The clearest difference is rating: HD RiderPoints at 3.7 against Pinecone Research's 2.0. HD RiderPoints also leads on iOS requirement (8.0 vs 13.0). Pinecone Research's advantage is ratings volume (149 vs 3) and update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 4 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

HD RiderPoints holds the better App Store score, 3.7 against 2.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pinecone Research has 149 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of HD RiderPoints's written reviews are positive against 12% of Pinecone Research's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

HD RiderPoints ships an update every 4 months, Pinecone Research every 5 weeks. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
