# 澎湃新闻 vs Cnbeta

The clearest difference is ratings volume: 澎湃新闻 at 2.6K against Cnbeta's 40. 澎湃新闻 also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 3 months) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 17.0). Cnbeta's advantage is review sentiment (93% vs 79%). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. 澎湃新闻 sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and Cnbeta sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for 澎湃新闻 against 4.7 for Cnbeta. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: 澎湃新闻 has 2.6K ratings behind it against 40, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 79% of 澎湃新闻's written reviews are positive against 93% of Cnbeta's.

澎湃新闻 ships an update monthly, Cnbeta every 3 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
