# PDF Scanner vs uScan

PDF Scanner and uScan both sit at 4.5 stars, but that hides the real split: 47% of uScan's written reviews are positive against 0% of PDF Scanner's. uScan also leads on ratings volume (15K vs 2) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months). PDF Scanner's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PDF Scanner sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and uScan sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for PDF Scanner against 4.6 for uScan. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: uScan has 15K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 0% of PDF Scanner's written reviews are positive against 47% of uScan's.

PDF Scanner ships an update every 3 months, uScan every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
