# Candy Camera vs Pictail

The clearest difference is ads: Pictail at none against Candy Camera's shown. Pictail also leads on iOS requirement (8.0 vs 17.0). Candy Camera's advantage is update cadence (every 3 days vs monthly) and rating (4.2 vs 3.8). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Candy Camera sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Pictail sells 9 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Candy Camera holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Candy Camera has 1K ratings behind it against 26, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 47% of Candy Camera's written reviews are positive against 53% of Pictail's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Candy Camera ships an update every 3 days, Pictail monthly. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
