# Sat vs SatCatcher

The clearest difference is rating: SatCatcher at 4.3 against Sat's 3.8. SatCatcher also leads on ratings volume (80 vs 4). Sat's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

SatCatcher holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SatCatcher has 80 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Sat's written reviews are positive against 53% of SatCatcher's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Sat ships an update every 2 months, SatCatcher every 9 months. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
