# O'Reilly vs HackPSU Mobile

The clearest difference is review sentiment: HackPSU Mobile at 100% against O'Reilly's 46%. HackPSU Mobile also leads on monetization model (free vs subscription) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). O'Reilly's advantage is ratings volume (34K vs 6) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

HackPSU Mobile holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: O'Reilly has 34K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 46% of O'Reilly's written reviews are positive against 100% of HackPSU Mobile's.

O'Reilly ships an update fortnightly, HackPSU Mobile every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
