# Joyrun vs PaceMaster

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Joyrun at 1.5K against PaceMaster's 1. Joyrun also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.4). PaceMaster's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Joyrun sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and PaceMaster sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PaceMaster holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Joyrun has 1.5K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Joyrun ships an update every 3 weeks, PaceMaster every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
