# MagicTrace vs Tracecolor

The clearest difference is rating: Tracecolor at 3.0 against MagicTrace's 1.5. MagicTrace's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 42 months) and review sentiment (26% vs 0%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MagicTrace sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Tracecolor sells 14 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Tracecolor holds the better App Store score, 3.0 against 1.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MagicTrace has 8 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 26% of MagicTrace's written reviews are positive against 0% of Tracecolor's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MagicTrace ships an update fortnightly, Tracecolor every 42 months. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
