# Biking Distance Tracker vs SafeBeacon

The clearest difference is monetization model: Biking Distance Tracker at free with in-app purchases against SafeBeacon's subscription. SafeBeacon's advantage is review sentiment (95% vs 70%) and update cadence (every 9 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, rating, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Biking Distance Tracker sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and SafeBeacon sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SafeBeacon holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1.1K and 1.4K respectively. Written reviews point the same way: 70% of Biking Distance Tracker's written reviews are positive against 95% of SafeBeacon's.

Biking Distance Tracker ships an update every 3 weeks, SafeBeacon every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
