# VCP vs Clear

The clearest difference is update cadence: Clear at every 2 months against VCP's every 35 months. Clear also leads on ratings volume (18 vs 2). VCP's advantage is rating (3.0 vs 2.7) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 16.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

VCP holds the better App Store score, 3.0 against 2.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Clear has 18 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 50% of VCP's written reviews are positive against 42% of Clear's.

VCP ships an update every 35 months, Clear every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
