# Overpaint vs Swatch This

The clearest difference is rating: Swatch This at 4.1 against Overpaint's 3.8. Overpaint's advantage is update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 3 months) and review sentiment (62% vs 54%). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Overpaint sells 5 one-off in-app purchases and Swatch This sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Swatch This holds the better App Store score, 4.1 against 3.8. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 133 and 68 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 62% of Overpaint's written reviews are positive against 54% of Swatch This's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Overpaint ships an update every 5 weeks, Swatch This every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
