# The Audio Converter vs Format Converter

The Audio Converter and Format Converter both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Format Converter's written reviews are positive against 35% of The Audio Converter's. Format Converter also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.6). The Audio Converter's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (14K vs 24). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. The Audio Converter sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and Format Converter sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $1.49 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for The Audio Converter against 4.6 for Format Converter. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The Audio Converter has 14K ratings behind it against 24, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 35% of The Audio Converter's written reviews are positive against 100% of Format Converter's.

The Audio Converter ships an update every 2 months, Format Converter every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
