# The Ebook Converter vs ComicReader

The clearest difference is rating: The Ebook Converter at 4.5 against ComicReader's 3.5. The Ebook Converter also leads on ratings volume (2.4K vs 51) and review sentiment (31% vs 13%). ComicReader's advantage is monetization model (free vs freemium) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. The Ebook Converter sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and ComicReader sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

The Ebook Converter holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The Ebook Converter has 2.4K ratings behind it against 51, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 31% of The Ebook Converter's written reviews are positive against 13% of ComicReader's.

The Ebook Converter ships an update every 2 months, ComicReader every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
