# Military Times vs SOFREP

The clearest difference is update cadence: SOFREP at every 3 weeks against Military Times's every 10 months. SOFREP also leads on iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.0). Military Times's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.4) and ratings volume (2.9K vs 15). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Military Times sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $11.99 per year and SOFREP sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Military Times holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Military Times has 2.9K ratings behind it against 15, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 61% of Military Times's written reviews are positive against 52% of SOFREP's.

Military Times ships an update every 10 months, SOFREP every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
