# Splat vs Writing Wizard

The clearest difference is rating: Writing Wizard at 4.4 against Splat's 3.0. Writing Wizard also leads on ratings volume (5.2K vs 2) and update cadence (every 4 months vs every 15 months). Splat's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 4) and review sentiment (100% vs 74%). On price and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Writing Wizard sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per month. Splat asks for nothing beyond the download.

Writing Wizard holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Writing Wizard has 5.2K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Splat's written reviews are positive against 74% of Writing Wizard's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Splat ships an update every 15 months, Writing Wizard every 4 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
